BISHOP AUGUSTINE HARRIS who served our Diocese as a good Shepherd for 14 years died on Thursday 30 August in Liverpool. As yet we do not have the funeral arrangements. As soon as we get them they will be posted in the church porch. Please remember him in your prayers.

CONFIRMATION 2008: The priests of the Pastoral Area have decided that, for the parishes of York the Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on Thursday 15 May 2008 at Our Lady's Church in Acomb. The young candidates will continue to meet in their own parishes - our next gathering is on Thursday 13 Sep. at 7.30pm in Upper Room.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD: We reassemble on Wed. 5 Sep. with a gathering for all Readers 7pm - 9pm in the Upper Room when Jane Cook, Diocesan Adult Formation Advisor, will lead the evening. All readers, weekday and Sunday, are invited to attend.

RCIA - Involving the Whole Parish Community: An evening with Dr Sheila O'Dea exploring the treasurers of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) on Friday 21 September 7-9pm at All Saints Lower School, Nunnery Lane. A donation of £5 is suggested. This evening is open to the whole of the Diocese so booking is essential. If you would like to attend please put your name on the list in the porch today.

WELCOMING PEOPLE INTO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH: A meeting for all Catholics who would like to be involved in sharing faith will be held on Tuesday 25 September at 7.30pm in the Upper Room.

PARISH FORUM Sunday 9 September, 3.30pm - 5.00pm in the Upper Room. If you have items for the agenda please send them in by Friday 7 September.

THE SINGING PRACTICES resume on Monday 3 September, 7.30pm - 8.30pm.

OUTING TO BRIDLINGTON - Organised by Ascent but open to everyone: Tues 11 September. The coach will leave Memorial Gardens at 9.15am, and Our Lady's at 9.30am, stopping at Beverley, and getting back to York around 6.30pm. The fare is £6.50. WORLD YOUTH DAY - SYDNEY 2008: We are grateful to have two members of our parish, Megan and Olga, travelling to Sydney next July with the Diocese. We will be organising events with them in the autumn to raise funds for their travel.

JUSTICE AND PEACE COMMISSION: The next meeting is on Saturday 15 September at St Francis of Assisi Church, Acklam, Middlesbrough, 10.30am - 1.00pm.

YORK JUSTICE AND PEACE GROUP : The next meeting takes place on Monday 10 September at 7.30pm at St Bede's Pastoral Centre, 21 Blossom Street. James Main, a student, will talk on his year's experience working in Japan. All welcome.

YORK WALSINGHAM ASSOCIATION - next meeting takes place on Wednesday 5 September at St George's. Mass 12.30pm followed by the meeting.
