CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME to Nakeisha Espina who was baptised yesterday.
WEDDING CONGRATULATIONS to Nicola Duckworth and Mike Plowman who were married here at St Wilfrid's on Friday.
MINISTERS OF THE WORD: The Wednesday meetings are discontinued for the months of July and August. We will reassemble with a gathering for all Readers on Wednesday 10 September from 7.00pm - 9.00pm in the Upper Room.
PRAYING THE ROSARY FOR VOCATIONS: Please take a Rosary card as you leave Church today. I encourage you to use them each week, or even each day at either a prayer meeting, in the schools, as a family, in private prayer or in the Church before Mass.
HOLIDAYS: I will be on holiday with my family during August and I am grateful to the local priests who will be celebrating the Masses here.
Please note that there will be no Monday 8.00am Mass or 10.00am Saturday Mass at St Margaret Clitherow's Shrine in the Shambles during August. Confessions will be 11.00am to 12 noon here at St Wilfrid's.
SATURDAY REFRESHMENTS: Many thanks to all who organise and support these events on the last Saturday of each month - £136.76 was raised last week.
THE ASSUMPTION PILGRIMAGE: The 50th anniversary of this pilgrimage takes place on Sunday 17 August at The Lady Chapel, Mount Grace, Osmotherley. Rosary at 2.30pm and concelebrated Mass at 3.00pm. The main celebrant will be Bishop Terence Patrick Drainey. Pilgrims requiring seating are requested to bring their own.
CHORISTER FOR A DAY: St Martin's, Ampleforth will be hosting this event on Sunday 12 October in conjunction with Ampleforth Abbey. If you are aged between 7 and 10 years and enjoy singing you will be most welcome. BIBLE ALIVE AND CATHOLIC LIFE: The August issues are available from the porch today along with the other Catholic papers.
PLAQUE TO ST MARGARET CLITHEROW: Bishop Terence will unveil a plaque to St Margaret Clitherow in a ceremony to be held at the Micklegate end of Ouse Bridge (where Margaret was executed) on 29 August at 3.30pm. All are invited to attend.
WEDDING FAIR, Sunday 10 August, 11.00am - 3.00pm at The Bar Convent. An exhibition of traditional and contemporary wedding services. Cafopen serving meals and light refreshments. £2 admission. Please see poster for further details.
THE RETIRING COLLECTION is for the ongoing maintenance of our parish buildings - many thanks for your continued generosity.
TRIP TO WHITBY (organised by Ascent) on Tuesday 9 September. The coach will leave Memorial Gardens at 9.15am and Our Lady's Church at 9.30am and the fare will be £8. There will be a stop at Thornton Le Dale for coffee. It is expected we will be back in York between 6.00pm and 6.30pm. Please put your name on the list in the porch if you would like to go.
