INTERNATIONAL MASS -Today (Sunday) at 11am. Thanks to all who have come together to prepare this Mass - we have so many nations building up our community. Please participate as fully as you can today in our celebration. Refreshments will be served in the garden/rectory after Mass - please come along and enjoy each others company.
DAY FOR LIFE: Today is celebrated as a Day for Life across the countries of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. It is a day dedicated to raising awareness about the meaning and value of human life at every stage and in every condition. The retiring collection today is to support the work of the Linacre Centre for Healthcare Ethics and other life-related activities supported by the Church. Please take a leaflet from the porch.
WORLD YOUTH DAY: Our Bishop has already gone to Australia and our two parish representatives, Olga and Megan will be on their way next weekend. We wish them every blessing and hope they have a wonderful time meeting young people from around the world.
OLIVER: Congratulations to the children and staff of St Wilfrid's School on their performance of Oliver. It was a most enjoyable evening at the Theatre Royal. There are two more performances in the school on Monday and Tuesday of this week.
BECOMING A CATHOLIC: If you would like to know more about becoming a Catholic, or know of anyone in this situation, a meeting will be held with Canon Michael in the Upper Room on Tuesday 8 July at 7.30pm.
CALLING ALL CANTORS AND SINGERS - There will be an evening for cantors and singers at St Wilfrid's on Wednesday 9th July, 7.00pm - 9.00pm. If you are an experienced, nervous or reluctant cantor, you are warmly invited to attend this local initiative to encourage you in your ministry and improve your skills. FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION 2009: A meeting for all parents who feel that their children are ready to prepare for First Communion takes place on Thursday 10 July at 7.30pm in the Upper Room - entrance through the car park at side of the Church.
MINISTERS OF THE WORD: The Wednesday meetings are discontinued for the months of July and August. We will reassemble on Wednesday 10 September starting with a gathering for all Readers on Wednesday 10 September from 7.00pm - 9.00pm in the Upper Room.
ST WILFRID'S PARISH INTERNATIONAL EVENING to be held on Saturday 12 July in the school hall from 6.30 to 10.30pm. Dancing, singing, bar, refreshments (please bring a plate for the sharing). Tickets £5 adults, children £1. All proceeds go towards supporting our two parish representatives, Olga and Megan, on their trip to World Youth Day with the Pope in Australia.
ST WILFRID'S CHURCH, TOWER OPEN DAY, Saturday 12 July, 10.00am - 5.30pm. Come and see an exhibition about English bellringing and a demonstration of St Wilfrid's bells being rung. Admission £2 adults and £1 children/concessions. Refreshments available.
