WE WELCOME INTO THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY Eleanor Carmel Reeve-Smith who is to be baptised this weekend and we congratulate her family and friends.

CONGRATULATIONS to Joanna Czaplick and Mustafa Demirkapu, Rowena Smith and Michael Rogers who were married here this weekend.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION: We start our preparation for 2009 this week. The first of our nine themes is 'Celebrating'. Each theme is centred on a specific action in family living, in the life of Jesus, and in a particular part of the Mass. The action of 'Celebrating' is related in the story of the Wedding Feast at Cana. When we gather as the family of God, we celebrate and praise God.

WELCOMING PEOPLE INTO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH: A meeting for all Catholics who would like to be involved in supporting the people who are thinking about joining the Church will be held on Tuesday 9 September at 7.30pm in the Upper Room.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD: We will reassemble with a gathering for all Readers on Wednesday 10 September from 7.00pm - 9.00pm in the Upper Room.

BAPTISM PREPARATION: If you have a child for baptism you are invited to a three session course to take place on Saturdays 4,11and 18 October in the Upper Room 2-3.30pm. Please let Canon Michael know if you wish to attend.

PARISH FORUM: Sunday 14 September, 3.30pm - 5.00pm in the Upper Room. If you have any items for the agenda please hand them in before Sunday 14 September.

APF RED MISSION BOXES: Pat and Ernie will be collecting the contents of our boxes today.

ST PAUL'S BOOKSHOP, King's Square will be opened by Bishop Terence Drainey on Thursday 11 September at 12.30pm. All very welcome.

CATECHESIS - VISION AND REALITY, Saturday 11 October at English Martyrs Hall, Dalton Terrace, commencing at 10.30am (with coffee served from 10.00am) and concluding by 4pm. This day is for all who are involved in preparing children, young people, parents or adult enquirers for the Sacraments of Initiation, or leading Children's Liturgy of the Word. Cost £5. Please sign the list in the porch if you would like to attend.

YORK CREDIT UNION: Many thanks to all those of you who joined York Credit Union after my recent talk. If any more wish to join as saving members, perhaps I can help out. If you bring the completed documents - in an envelope, marked CREDIT UNION, together with a minimum payment of £2 (£1 joining fee and £1 to start your savings; cheques made payable to York Credit Union) - to Mass next week, I will collect them from Fr Michael take them in to Priory Street for you. If you lost your Membership Information Pack and please let Father Michael know, and I'll get one for you. - Stella Copeland.

THE KAREN HILLTRIBES TRUST: Please sponsor Sophie Lusty who is doing the Leeds Half Marathon in aid of the Karen Hilltribes Trust (KHT). Sophie will be working next year teaching children in Thailand. Further details and sponsor forms on display board in the porch.

THE VICTIMS OF THE VICTIMS: A talk on the crisis in Gaza and the occupied territories on Wednesday 10 September in St Joseph's Hall, Clifton at 7.30pm. Admission free.
