CAFOD HARVEST FAST DAY - Friday 5 October: Cafod has asked that we use this day to make an urgent appeal for funds to support Zimbabwe's most vulnerable people. Your envelope and donation will be collected as you leave Church today.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION: 'Forgiving' is the second of our nine themes. Each theme is centred on a specific action in family living, in the life of Jesus and in a particular part of the Mass. The action of 'Forgiving' is related in the story of Zacchaeus who was a tax collector. The Eucharist helps us to forgive and to seek forgiveness, and to seek forgiveness, and to grow in love with God and one another.

WELCOMING PEOPLE INTO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH: Our meetings for those inquiring about entry into the Catholic Church take place on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm in the Upper Room. If you know of anyone who might be interested please bring them along.

PROCLAIMING GOD'S WORD: Our meetings for Ministers of the Word and all interested in the Sunday Readings take place each Wednesday at 8.00pm in the Upper Room. All very welcome.

THE ALTAR RAILS have now been replaced as kneelers in the Sacred Heart Chapel. You are encouraged to come and pray before the Blessed Sacrament in this quiet place.

DONATIONS FOR THE POOR: David's letter touched many hearts last Sunday. Money gifts were received at all three Masses. 'The Lord hears the cry of the poor' through your generosity.

THE MUSIC GROUP meet on Monday, 6.30pm in the Upper Room. All welcome.

SINGING PRACTICE - Monday, 7.30pm in the Upper Room. Please come along and help in the preparation for our Sunday Liturgies.

CARECENT HARVEST APPEAL - it's that time of year again when Carecent is stocking up the pantry. A basket will be in the Church by the 'gifts' table each weekend of October to receive any of the items that are listed in the Church porch.

JOINT SOCIAL EVENING with St Joseph's parish on Friday 16 November - further details later. Please make a note in your diary. Thanks to all the new horse owners!

BISHOP JOHN CROWLEY: Please return your donation envelopes to church as soon as possible as our monies have to be in Middlesbrough by Friday 12 October.

MUSIC DAY, Saturday 20 October, 11am - 4pm with Paul Inwood, noted composer and Director of Music for Portsmouth Diocese at St Joseph's Church, Green Lane, Newby, Scarborough. The Day if free of charge - bring a packed lunch. See poster for further details.

DAY OF REFLECTION organised by Ascent, but open to all: Wednesday 10 October, 10.30am - 3.30pm at English Martyrs. Please bring some food for a shared lunch - tea and coffee provided. The day will be led by Fr Stephen Watson. Suggested donation is £5
