RCIA RETREAT: Martha and Desmond, who were welcomed into our parish community last week, join with others from around the diocese, for a retreat with the Bishop at St Aelred's next Saturday. This is in preparation for the Rite of Election and their baptism and reception into the Church at Easter.

Rite of Election - Sunday 29 February at the Cathedral, Middlesbrough. A coach will be leaving from the Memorial Gardens at 1pm and returns approximately 5.30-6pm. Cost £5. Please come along and support Martha and Desmond and all from around the diocese who are preparing to join us.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION : Theme 'Sharing During the dialogue which opens the Eucharistic Prayer, we join with the celebrant in giving thanks for the love God shares with us as family. In this dialogue we are reminded of our close union with the priest and one anotheras we thank the Father through Jesus.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION: As only a small number of young people came forward last year for the Sacrament, I am lowering the age of application to 13 years and over (those who are 13 years now or will be 13 this year). lf you would like to receive this Sacrament please complete an application form, available from the porch, and return it to me by Sunday 15 February.

Confirmation Preparation: A meeting for those who have applied for Confirmation and their parents takes place on Thursday 19 February, 730pm in the Upper Room.

CHURCH TOWER: As I reported last week the inspection of the Tower has revealed the urgent need of renewal of the sttone shafts and other masonry work. The architect writes: "I strongly recommend that the work be carried out before the end of this year". A preliminary estimate of the cost is £60,000 plus VAT and professional fees.

EDUCATION SUNDAY "Putting out into the Deep" Today especially, we are asked to pray for the work of the Catholic Education Service which promotes and supports Catholic education in many ways.

PARISH INDIA PROJECT Our monthly fast day was Friday, 6 Feb. The box for your donations is on the 'gifts' table at the back of Church today.

CITY CENTRE PARKING: As you may already know, virtually the whole City centre will be subject to a 24 hours parking ban where it is not already the case. This will effect all the City churches and their congregations as well as St Wilfrid's. Please help by signing the petition as you leave church today.
