RITE OF WELCOME: We are privileged today to welcome Tracy, Ronnie, Shannon, Sarah, Tania, Alan and Auriel into our community. This is a step towards full initiation into the Church. Please keep them all in your prayer. The Retreat Day in preparation for the Rite of Election takes place at All Saints Lower School on Saturday 14 February, 10.30am - 2.30pm. Rite of Election: A coach will be going from York to the Cathedral on the First Sunday of Lent - 1st March. Further details later. FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION 'Giving': In this theme we are looking at the story of Martha and Mary (Luke 10: 38-42). How does one prepare for Jesus' visit? Martha prepares one way. Mary another. In the family of God, within our own parish, we prepare for the coming of Jesus in the meal of the Eucharist. We bring the gifts of bread and wine to the altar, thank God for these gifts of creation, and offer ourselves as gift, as one family, to God. Congratulations to all the family. CELEBRATING FAMILY PROJECT is a three year programme being launched in our Diocese, the theme of Year 1 'Everybody's Welcome', Year 2 'Home is a Holy Place', Year 3 'Handing on the Faith'. An information evening will be held at English Martyrs on Wednesday 4 March, 7.00pm - 8.30pm. 'ENGAGING OUR YOUNG PEOPLE' The second of the two Workshops with Bishop Terry and the YCW (Young Christian Workers) takes place on Saturday 14 February 3.00pm - 5.00pm, St Thomas More, Middlesbrough. The workshop is open to adults who are interested in supporting young people, and to young adults who could get involved. YEAR OF ST PAUL: Bishop Drainey will lead two Diocesan Celebrations: Thursday 26 February at St Charles, Hull 7.00pm Sunday 28 June at the Cathedral, Middlesbrough 7.00pm. See poster for details. NEWMAN ASSOCIATION: Monday 16 February, 7.30pm at St Bede's Pastoral Centre. WOMEN'S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER - Friday 6 March. The local services take place at York Baptist Church, Priory Street at 2.00pm, and St Martin-le-Grand, Coney Street at 7.30pm. All welcome. BIBLE ALIVE and MY DAY BY DAY: The February issues are available from the Paper Stall today. Also there are still a number of copies of the Diocesan Year Book left at £2. VISIT OF RELICS OF ST THOF LISIEUX to England and Wales. The relics of St Thwill be visiting England and Wales in October. We hope this will be a time of great grace for us and for many people in our land. Catholics, other Christians, members of other faiths and no faith will all be welcome to pray by her relics. You are invited to use this forthcoming year as a time of preparation, by praying for the visit and reading about St Thon the special website that has been set up: www.catholicrelics.co.uk At present the relics are expected at York Minster 1-2 Oct. 2009.
