LENT - 8am Mass on Wednesdays during Lent here at St Wilfrid's. Lent Station Masses Bishop John invites the priests and people of York to journey through Lent by attending Station Masses which will be held in a different church each week - here at St Wilfrid's there will be one each Friday at 12.10pm. Please take a leaflet from the porch for further information. Stations of the Cross Wednesdays and Fridays 11.30am. Lenten Lunches Fridays after 12.10pm Mass in the Upper Room. Penitential Service Saturday 12 April at 2.30pm here at St Wilfrid's.
SENDING FORTH - Emma Claydon, Julie Foster, Rosemary Jakeman, Nicholas Lazenby, Celeste Murray-Tereszczuk and Philip Thompkins are going forward for the Rite of Election. We send them from the 11am Mass with a special blessing. RITE OF ELECTION - Today (Sunday) 3pm at the Cathedral, Middlesbrough. A coach will be leaving York at 1.15pm from the Memorial Gardens and returning approx 6pm - cost £5. List for names in the porch - still some seats available. FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION Theme 'Sharing' Parents Meeting: Wednesday 12 March 7.30pm Children's Gathering: Saturday 15 March 10-11am Parish Celebration: Sunday 23 March 11am CAFOD LENT FAST DAY - Friday 14 March. When you give something up and share what you have, you prove that poverty is not inevitable. Please take an envelope home and remember to fill in the attached Gift Aid form if you are a taxpayer. MINISTERS OF THE WORD - an evening for all involved in this ministry takes place on Thurs 20 Mar 7.30pm in Upper Room. Please make a special effort to attend. MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST -Wednesday 2 April, 7.30pm in the Upper Room. FUNDRAISING DAY at St Crux, Thurs 13 Mar. Bric-a-brac, books, plants, cakes and home-made produce - all very welcome. URGENT REPAIRS You may have noticed the dampness coming through the stonework over the confessional. This week the architect has examined the valley guttering and has reported that the lead has split in several places and urgently needs replacing. As yet we do not have an estimate but we have been warned that the cost will run into many thousands. Would you consider increasing your contribution for the upkeep of the parish or joining the Gift Aid system if you are not already on it?
