CAFOD LENT FAST DAY - Friday 15 February: Cafod envelopes are available today as you leave the church. Please share what you can with some of the poorest communities worldwide. Don't forget to fill in the Gift Aid details if you are a taxpayer. A DAY WITH CAFOD - Saturday 8 March, 10.00am - 4.OOpm at SS Leonard and Mary Parish Centre, Malton. All welcome. THE RITE OF ELECTION: Today (Sunday) we travel with Sam, Stephen and Lars and their families to the Cathedral in Middlesbrough where they will be welcomed by the Bishop. The coach leaves the Memorial Gardens at 1.15pm - all seats are now taken. At the 11.00am Mass today Sam, Stephen and Lars will be prayed for and sent forth from our community. FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION Theme: 'Giving' Parents Meeting : Thursday 21 February 7.30pm in the Upper Room Children's Gathering : Saturday 23 February 10 - 11.30am in the Upper Room Parish Celebration : Sunday 24 February 11.00am Mass DAY BY DAY - is a useful booklet to help our prayer during Lent and is available from the porch at £1.00, also Bible Alive at £1.95. MARRIAGE PREPARATION: Courses for 2008 are Saturdays, 26 April, 14 June and 8 November. All take place at St Bede's Pastoral Centre, Blossom Street. Application forms available from Canon Michael. MINISTERS OF THE WORD: We meet at 8.00pm on Wednesdays in the Upper Room. I encourage all readers to attend and anyone else who would like to come. LENTEN LUNCHES: If you could help on one of the Fridays of Lent by providing soup and rolls, tea and coffee, please put your name on this list in the porch. MINISTERS OF WORD AND COMMUNION: If you are available for Holy Week and Easter ministry please put your name on the list in the porch. ALTAR SERVERS PRACTICE 12 noon - 1.00pm on Saturdays 8 March and 22 March. YOUTH PRAYER GROUP meets every Monday evening after the 7.30pm Mass at English Martyrs, Dalton Terrace. All welcome. CHRISM MASS - Tuesday 18 March, 12 noon at St Mary's Cathedral, Middlesbrough. Please put your name on the list in the porch if you would like to book a seat on the coach. CATHOLIC PARLIAMENTARY INTERNSHIPS: The Bishops' Conference has been running this scheme for the last 5 years, placing three recent graduates each year with Christian MPs at Westminster.
