SEA SUNDAY Today we have a retiring collection to support the mission work of AOS (Apostleship of the Sea). AOS reaches out to the 1 million seafarers that visit our ports each year, offering practical support and the opportunity to receive the sacraments. 60% of seafarers come from a Catholic background. If you are a tax payer, please use and complete the Gift Aid Declaration on the appropriate envelope available at the back of Church.

BECOMING A CATHOLIC If you are not already a member of the Catholic Church and would like to explore the possibility of becoming one, a meeting with me, Canon Michael, will take place in the Rectory on Tuesday (13 July) at 8.00pm. Please telephone me on 624767.

PARISH FORUM - Today (Sun 11 July), 3.30pm in the Upper Room. All welcome.

CONGRATULATIONS to Catherine Frazer and Peter Rankin who were married here this weekend.

LOURDES FUNDRAISING DAY (to help York sick pilgrims to go to Lourdes) will be held on Friday 13 August at St Crux from 10am to 4pm. If you can help on the day please put your name on the list in the porch. Cakes, scones, bric-a-brac, handicrafts will be welcome. If you have bric-a-brac please contact Liz Boyes, tel. 656497. There will be a meeting in connection with this day on Monday 2 August, 7.30pm in St Wilfrid's Sacristy. If you would like to attend, please do so.

SPRINGBOARD - Today (Sunday 11 July) at Ampleforth Abbey, 11.30am - 6.00pm. Mass 12noon. After Mass the swimming pool and other sports facilities will be available until 4.00pm. Disco in Sports Hall at 4.30pm.

APF MISSION MAGAZINE will be available next weekend. Pat and Ernie Johnston will be in the porch to sign up any new members and take in the contents of the red mission boxes already held.

CANON GARVAN O'HARA retired priest from St Hilda's, Whitby, died last week. His funeral Mass takes place on Tuesday 13 July at St Hilda's. May he rest in peace.

SISTER EMILY former headteacher of St Wilfrid's and St Margaret Clitherow Schools, died recently. A Memorial Mass will take place at St Wilfrid's in September.

BEL CANTO SINGERS Daytona Beach, Florida, USA in concert here at St Wilfrid's on Tuesday next (13 July) at 6pm. A programme of classical and popular music from Bach to Broadway. All very welcome. Free entrance-voluntary donation.

ST WILFRID'S SCHOOL is producing the 'Wizard of Oz' on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 July in the School Hall. Tickets available from school - ring 659762.
