FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION 'Listening'. In this theme we look at the readings from scripture and the chants (psalms) between these readings that form the main part of the Liturgy of the Word. We prepare for the Gospel by singing the Alleluia; we make a small sign of the cross on our forehead, our lips and our heart to symbolise our readiness to welcome God's Word into our life.

WORLD YOUTH DAY - Sydney 2008: We are pleased to have two young people representing our parish next year, Olga and Megan. Our fundraising efforts over the next few months will go towards financing them. The young people from our Diocese will travel with those of the Hexham and Newcastle Diocese.

MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST: A meeting for all ministers will take place on Thursday 29 November at 7.30pm in the Upper Room.

MASS OF REMEMBRANCE - Friday 16 November at 12.10pm. You are invited to take part in this Mass for all your family and friends who have died. Candles will be available to bring to the altar in memory of your loved ones. Please take a leaflet today from the Porch and name the person(s) you are remembering on it and return it to the Sacristy as soon as possible.

MANY THANKS to the people who have been making anonymous donations to the Church recently - it is deeply appreciated. Your generosity ensures that we maintain and hand on the buildings in good conditions for future generations.

ADULT FORMATION TEAM: Jane Cooke and Father John Lumley will be here at St Wilfrid's on 17/18 November to talk to us at all Masses about their plans for the way ahead.

LITURGY OF THE WORD WITH CHILDREN: A meeting for all involved or who would like to be, takes place on Thursday 6 December, 7.30pm in the Upper Room.

JOINT SOCIAL EVENING with St Joseph's parish on Friday 16 November in St Joseph's Hall, Sutton Way. Doors open 7pm. First race 7.30pm. Tickets are available today at £2 each.

PARISH FORUM: Our next meeting is on Sunday 2 December 3.30-5pm in the Upper Room. If you have any items for the agenda please hand them in before Friday 30 November.

WALSINGHAM ASSOCIATION AGM Wednesday 14 November, St George's Church, 12.30pm. Mass followed by meeting.

NEWMAN ASSOCIATION: Father Henry Wansbrough, OSB will speak on the Infancy Narratives on Thursday 15 November at 7.30pm at the Bar Convent.

PREPARATION FOR ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS: Father Jim O'Brien will be speaking on Tuesday 20 November, 7.00pm - 9.00pm at St Aelred's Community Centre.

BISHOP JOHN CROWLEY will be returning to the Diocese for a farewell celebration on Friday 14 December, 7.00pm at the Cathedral, Middlesbrough. All welcome.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES, 23 - 30 May 2008. Next year is the 150th Anniversary of the Apparitions, so applications for the pilgrimage need to be in early - booking forms are available from Canon Michael.
