FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION Theme 'Giving'. Today our children prepare the altar table by placing bread and wine on it. These gifts are brought to the altar by members of the family of God. These simple gifts of bread and wine show our gratitude for the goods of the earth which we all have and use. The money collected for the church and the poor is presented. We should also offer ourselves, bringing all the actions of our daily life to the altar. The priest receives the gifts and in song we prepare our hearts for Jesus as we set the parish table of the Lord.

CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME to Chester Burnett who is to be baptised to day at our 11am Mass. Please keep all our young families who are preparing to have their children baptised in your prayers.

WITH HEARTS AND MINDS - a series of meetings has been arranged, as part of our Lenten Programme, on this document produced by the Bishops of England and Wales - Wednesdays of Lent starting on Ash Wednesday at 7.30pm in the Sacristy. An afternoon opportunity is also offered on Tuesdays of Lent starting on 28 February at 1.l5pm. Those who attend the 12.10pm Mass are invited to bring a packed lunch - tea and coffee will be provided.

TOWER REPAIRS The scaffolding will be erected in the week of 13 February and hopefully the work should be fully completed by 29 April. During this period the ramp and side door of church will not be accessible. This obviously causes inconvenience to a number of people but help will be available at the main entrance of Church. Also, cars will not have access to the car park during working hours. The accepted tender for the work amounts to £86,104 + VAT.

UPDATE OF PARISH RECORDS Because the Diocese is looking for the true figures for Sunday Mass attendance I would be grateful if you would complete the form you received today and return it as soon as possible. This will help the Diocese determine the way ahead in its planning as well as giving us an up to date register of our Mass goers.

LITURGY OF THE WORD WITH CHILDREN - a meeting for all involved in this ministry or who would like to be involved takes place on Thursday 2 March at 7.30pm.
