PARISH FINANCES: At our recent Parish Finance Committee Meeting we discussed the steep rise in our Parish Assessment (the annual levy on each parish for the running of the Diocesan Services). St Wilfrid's has risen from £9,024 in 2001 to £19,068 this year. This is a huge burden on the parish especially as we are currently trying to pay back our loan, £300,000. At this time 1 would like to thank all those who so faithfully contribute according to their means to this parish. Some people have not increased their contributions for a number of years. This may be a good time for you to consider increasing your giving to St Wilfrid's. If you are a regular parishioner not using envelopes or Bankers Order, please contact me at the Rectory on 624767 or see me today.

GOSPEL CHALLENGE WEEKEND: Due to the small number who booked in for this weekend I have decided to postpone it to 18-20 October. This is an excellent opportunity for us to centre on the Gospel together. Booking forms available in July. Keep the October weekend free in your diary.

WORLD COMMUNICATIONS DAY - today we pray for all who work in the media, and for the Church to use the media well in the service of the Gospel. A retiring collection is taken today for the important work of the Catholic Communications Service which seeks to promote the Catholic message in all forms of media.
