FEAST OF ST WILFRID: Today we celebrate the feast of our patron. We look to Wilfrid as a source of inspiration and intercession for us.

CAFOD HARVEST FAST DAY - Friday 3 October. The proceeds of our fasting raised £723.03 to date.

SAM FOSTER, a parishioner of St Wilfrid's, completed the Great North Run last Sunday in under 2 hrs. Thanks to all who sponsored him - over £400 raised for CAFOD. Well done Sam.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION: The second of our nine themes is 'Forgiving'. Each theme is centred on a specific action in family living, in the life of Jesus and in a particular part of the Mass. The action of 'Forgiving' is related in the story of Zacchaeus who was a tax collector. The Eucharist helps us to forgive and to seek forgiveness, and to grow in love with God and one another.

The parents met on Thursday, the children gathered on Saturday morning with their catechists and we celebrate at the 11am Mass today.

RETIRED PRIESTS WELFARE FUND: Today a collection will be taken for the retired priests of our diocese. This is an important collection - I know you will be generous.

MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION: A meeting of all Ministers takes place on Thursday 30 October at 7.30pm in the Upper Room. Please make every effort to attend.
