WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life: Today we are invited to join the universal Church in praying that many will respond to the Lord calling them to these vocations in imitation of the Good Shepherd. May God strengthen all those he calls to priesthood or consecrated life and fill them with a generous spirit to respond in love and service of his people. Please keep in your prayers, Mark Reilly, who is to be ordained Deacon this year and ordained priest in 2009. Mark joins us here at St Wilfrid's during holiday time when staying with his parents, Jane and Michael.

THE RETIRING COLLECTION next weekend is for the Priests' Training Fund - a fund from which the Bishop meets the cost of training the students for the Priesthood for our diocese.

CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME to Emily Ruth Simpson and Caitlin Marie Linsdell who were baptised into the Christian community recently and to Olly Ian Mair who will be baptised today.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION: Theme 'Remembering'. Jesus ate many meals with his friends, but this last meal before his death is a special one. We continue to partake in this same special meal today in the Eucharist as we celebrate and remember his life, his death and resurrection. By sharing this same meal of the Eucharist, we express and affirm our belief that the whole mystery of the risen Christ is present and active in the Mass as we gather, eat and drink as the people of God. Nourished by this meal, we go forth to show our love as Jesus did, to give our lives as he did - for others.
