PRISONS WEEK 16-22 November. After judgement? Once judgement has been made, for the general public the matter is closed. But for those involved it is not the end. Prisons Week was formed to raise awareness among Christians of the needs of prisoners and their families, victims of offenders, prison staff and all those who care for them. Let us remember them especially in our prayers this week.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION 'Listening' In this theme we look at the readings from scripture and the chants (psalms) between these readings that form the main part of the Liturgy of the Word. Scripture tells us about God's love for us. As a sign of respect we stand as we listen to the Gospel. We also prepare for the Gospel by singing the Alleluia; we make a small sign of the cross on our forehead, our lips and our heart to symbolise our readiness to welcome God's Word into our life. Today at the 11am Mass we celebrate this theme of 'Listening'.

LIVING LITURGY Spirituality, Celebration and Catechesis for Sundays and Solemnities. Many hours go into prayerfully celebrating each Mass. Yet the most important preparation of all is that of those who gather as assembly. The real work isn't so much the participation at Mass itself; the real work of the people is the preparation they put into Mass before they come on Sunday and the way they live Mass once they've left Church. This aid is planned specifically to help people prepare for a live liturgy. Cost £10. You may view the book on the table by the annexe door.
