CONGO CRISIS APPEAL: CAFOD have launched a £1 million appeal to help relieve the suffering of people who have been forced to flee their homes. Thousands of people are living in makeshift camps, while others have taken to the roads on foot, with only the possessions they can carry, in the hope of reaching safety. The immediate needs are for water, food, shelter, medical supplies and basic items such as blankets, clothes and cooking equipment. A retiring collection will be taken at all Masses today to help CAFOD with their work in this area.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION 'Listening'. In this theme we look at the readings from scripture and the chants (psalms) between these readings that form the main part of the Liturgy of the Word. We prepare for the Gospel by singing the Alleluia; we make a small sign of the cross on our forehead, our lips and our heart to symbolise our readiness to welcome God's Word into our life. The theme of Listening will be prominent in our Liturgy today.
