RITE OF ELECTION at 3.00pm at the Cathedral today (Sun). This ceremony takes place in all Cathedral Churches throughout the world on the 1st Sunday of Lent. This is a wonderful time for all of us as we prepare to welcome new members into the Church and to be with them on this day. The Bishop welcomes Rachel Johnson, John Knowles, Clare Neal and Esperanza Miyake from St Wilfrid's and all who will be received into full communion with us at Easter. The coach leaves the Memorial Gardens at 1pm. LENT FAST DAY - Friday 22 February. This coming Friday is CAFOD Fast Day. When you give something up on Fast Day and share what you have, you prove that poverty is not inevitable. Please take an envelope home with you and remember to fill in the attached Gift Aid Form if you are a taxpayer. Thank you. LENT: Station Masses: We are being called together by Bishop John during Lent for the celebration of Mass around the York Pastoral Area. This week - Tuesday 19 Feb 7.00pm at St George's and Friday 12.10pm at St Wilfrid's. Stations of the Cross - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 11.30am Lenten Lunches - Fridays after 12.10 Mass in the Rectory - see list in porch. Springs of Encouragement - Rumours in the Wilderness at Central Methodist Church, Wednesdays - Lunches 11.45am-1pm. Speakers 1-1.30pm. See Poster. PARISH FINANCE: Thanks to the people of the other York Parishes who are making donations towards our Church Refurbishment. The local priests offered to make envelopes available to their parishioners for a one-off donation. GIFT AID: As we come towards the end of the tax year it is important that we look at our financial commitment to the running of our Parish. Could you consider reviewing your weekly/monthly contribution and possibly Gift Aiding it? Gift Aid Forms are available in the porch. EUCHARISTIC DEVOTION: As the work on the Church nears completion we restart our time of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament this week - Thursday 9.30am - 11.30am. LITURGY PREPARATION for The Easter Vigil - Monday 18 Feb at 8pm and Holy Thursday and Good Friday on Thursday 21Feb at 7.30pm in Rectory. SR THERESA IBVM: To show our appreciation for her many years work in the Parish we are having a little celebration here at the Rectory on Sun 10 March. CHURCH CLEANING: Help! More people are needed to go on the cleaning rota. Just an hour or two a month - please put your name on the list in the porch. SINGING PRACTICE Monday 25 Feb 8-9pm in the Rectory. All welcome.
