GOSPEL CHALLENGE 10- 12 October 2003. An invitation to all members of the parish who would like to come and reflect on the Gospel and its implications for us today. Closing date for applications, Sunday 7 September. Booking forms are available today from the porch.
MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST - Formation and Recommissioning Day, Saturday 4 October at York University. The charge for each participant is £15 (includes dinner, coffee, hire of hall and cost of speaker, etc.). St Wilfrid's ministers are asked to contribute £7.50 towards the day - list in the porch for names.
HOLIDAY TIME I am indebted to Fr John Murphy who will be celebrating the Sunday Masses with you while I am on holiday and to the local priests who will be covering the 12.10pm Mass (Tuesdays to Fridays) and the 10.00am on Saturdays at St Margaret's Shrine.
SUMMER DRAW Tickets are available today - please take a few books and sell them to family and friends. If you could also help by donating a prize, please put your name next to the donation on the list in the porch. Tickets 50p. First prize £200.
GIFT AID St Wilfrid's received £7146.10 from the inland Revenue this year. This money was by way of refund on gift aided contributions to the Church. Grateful thanks to all who help the Parish through gift aid at no extra cost to themselves. If you pay tax and are not already in the scheme, please contact the Rectory for a form.
PLEASE CAN YOU HELP Our cleaning teams need a few more generous people to give one or two hours per month cleaning the Church. It isn't hard work if it is shared. If you can help please put your name on the list in the porch.
PARISH FORUM The box is on the piety stall for any items you may have for the agenda for our next Forum - Sunday 7 September, 3.30pm - 5pm in the Upper Room.
HOUSE GROUP - Friday 29 Aug at 8pm at 1 St Barnabas Close. All welcome.
DAY OF REFLECTION - Thursday 9 October, 10.30am-3pm at English Martyrs Hall, Dalton Terrace. The day will be led by Father Gerry Mulligan. All welcome.
ASCENT Next meeting at St Wilfrid's takes place on Wednesday 27 August, 12.45pm-3pm in the Upper Room. All welcome.
ASCENT GET-TOGETHER at Our Lady's on Friday 22 August after the 9.15am Mass. Two people from Life Ascending International and one from Westminster Diocese are visiting York. The get-together will finish with a shared lunch. Ascent members most welcome.
DAY TRIP TO HAWORTH - Tuesday 9 September. Cost £8 includes coach and entrance to Bronte Museum. A list for names is available in the porch. Coach leaves Memorial Gardens at 9am and picks up at Our Lady's at 9.15am and will be back in York approx. 6pm. A deposit of is required - please put in an envelope marked Haworth Trip with your name and telephone number and hand it in to the Sacristy or to the person on the Piety Stall.
CHRISTIANS IN COMMUNICATION in conjunction with BBC North Yorkshire, is to launch a scheme with the aim of training radio presenters and contributors, broadening the scope of the Sunday Breakfast Show and who may then pursue a career in broadcasting. For further details and application form please pick up a leaflet from the porch today.
