FIRST COMMUNION Congratulations to our 24 young people, who will receive the Lord in Holy Communion for the first time today. We wish them and their families every blessing and assure them of our prayerful support.

CONGRATULATIONS to Audrey Lawler who was baptised yesterday and Jo-Neil Tio-la, Imogen Sanders and Harry Hail who were baptised recently and to their families.

JUBILEE CELEBRATION Sincere thanks to all who worked so hard in preparing for Mondays evenings event - the group who met regularly to plan, all who donated food and drink and helped serve it, the people who came and made visitors so welcome, all who participated in the Liturgy and in the craic afterwards - what a memorable night!

I am overwhelmed by your generosity - the jubilee cheque of £4850.06, all the good wishes and presents are deeply appreciated. Words are inadequate to express my thanks.

CELEBRATION OF PRIESTHOOD - Sunday 25 June, 5.00pm at St Mary's Cathedral, Middlesbrough. Mgr Seamus Kilbane, who celebrated his Golden Jubilee last weekend, will be preaching at this Mass. All very welcome.

BISHOP AUGUSTINE HARRIS The official Mass to celebrate Bishop Harris' 40 years as a Bishop will be held at Liverpool Cathedral on 22 June at 6.00pm. The coach will leave the Memorial Gardens at 2.00pm. Fare £12 - to be paid beforehand.

REFRESHMENTS - next Saturday, 24 June 10am - 3.30pm in Upper Room.

SPRINGBOARD - Sunday 9 July at Ampleforth, starting with Mass at midday. All the usual activities - five a side, outdoor informal games of football, tennis, cricket, barbeque and disco, ending at 6.00pm.

PETERS PENCE - a retiring collection will be taken next weekend.

IRISH NIGHT - Friday 7 July, 8.00pm at the Groves Club. Tickets £3 from St Wilfrid's Church or Margaret Walsh, 424053. Organised by Parishioners of St Aelreds for St Wilfrid's Building Fund.

POSTGATE RALLY - Sunday 2 July at St Anne's, Ugthorpe. Mass 3.00pm.

CALLED TO TREK - a walk for vocations, Sunday 6 August to Saturday 12 August. We are all asked to pray especially for vocations during these days but if you would like to also take part in the walk, either for the week or just a day, please see the notice in the porch for details.
