PEACE SUNDAY - theme "Without forgiveness there is no Peace". The world's religious leaders are meeting at Assisi on Thursday 24 January. The Pope has called for a Day of Prayer throughout the world. Our 12.10pm Mass for Peace on Thursday will express our solidarity with all who desire peace.
PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY- 'With you is the fountain of life'. St Wilfrid's is hosting the annual Service for the Heart of York today (Sunday 20 January) at 6.30pm. Refreshments will be served in the Rectory after the Service. It would be a great help if you could bring cakes etc. All welcome.
CONFIRMATION PREPARATION - we meet on Wednesdays 23 January at 7pm. Date of Confirmation - Wednesday 29 June, 7pm at English Martyrs Church. Please keep these young people in your prayers.
MINISTERS OF THE WORD : A meeting of those Ministers of the Word who are on duty 26/27 January takes place on Wednesday next (23 Jan) at 8pm in the Rectory. If any other Reader or anyone else who would like to come to these meetings they would be most welcome.
PARISH FORUM - 3.30pm Sunday 3 February in the Rectory. If you have any items for the agenda please place them in the box in the porch by Friday 25 Jan.
HOUSE GROUP - 7.30pm, Thursday 24 January at the home of Monica and Carl Lawrence, 1 St Barnabas Close, Leeman Road. All welcome.
JUST 10: In preparation for the Mission April - June 2002 there are 7 sessions to help gain confidence in sharing your faith. Venue, Elim Church, Swinegate, Wed evenings, starting 23 Jan through to 13 Mar (except 13 Feb) at 7.45pm. Please see poster for further details. FUNDRAISING: At our meeting on Monday last it was reported that £5212 was raised during 2001 through the generosity of all those who organised and supported the events. At present, we have two dates for events for 2002 - Social, Friday 19 April and a Strawberry Tea and Raffle on Saturday 6 July.
ALTAR SERVERS: If you have received your First Communion and would like to be an Altar Server please have a word with Canon Michael.
SR MARGARET GALLIGAN who has been helping in our Hospitals and the Parish is away until Easter time. Many people will miss her gentle presense. She is doing a renewal course in Ireland and would be grateful for your prayers.
