EDUCATION SUNDAY: Today is a national day of prayer and celebration for everyone involved in the world of education. For more than 100 years there has been an annual recognition of Education Sunday in England and Wales.

BISHOP TERENCE PATRICK DRAINEY will receive Episcopal Ordination on Friday 25 January 2008. As this is an invitation only celebration, the new Bishop will be here in York to celebrate Mass at St Aelred's on Tuesday 29 January at 7.00pm. All welcome.

WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY 18 - 25 January. This is a special time of prayer for unity among the Christian Churches. Please take time to pray and reflect upon the broken body of Christ, The Church.

BAPTISM PREPARATION: If you have a child for Baptism our next course takes place on Saturdays 2, 9, 16 February, 2.0pm-3.30pm in the Upper Room. Please contact Canon Michael to book a place.

THE CONFIRMATION GROUP has its first meeting of 2008 on Thurs 7 Feb. at 7.30pm in the Upper Room. The Catechists meet on Wednesday 30 January at 7pm in the Rectory.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA) - The first meeting of 2008 takes place on Tuesday 15 January at 7.30pm in the Upper Room. The Retreat Day in preparation for the Rite of Election takes place on Saturday 26 January at All Saints Lower School, Nunnery Lane.

THE RITE OF ELECTION for all those coming into full communion with the Church, takes place on Sunday 10 February (1st Sunday of Lent) at 3.00pm in St Mary's Cathedral, Middlesbrough. If you would like a seat on the coach please put your name on the list in the porch - £5.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION: Courses for 2008 are Saturdays, 19 January, 26 April, 14 June and 8 November. All take place at St Bede's Pastoral Centre, Blossom Street. Application forms available from Canon Michael.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD: We meet at 8.00pm on Wednesdays in the Upper Room. I encourage all readers to attend and anyone else who would like to come.
