WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS and thanks for joining in our Celebration. We hope you enjoy your time in York. Young children are most welcome to join in the Children's Liturgy at the 11am Mass. It helps the parish if tax-paying visitors would use the small white Gift Aid envelope (found at the back of Church) for any offerings you wish to make. For every £1 you give, the Inland Revenue gives a further £0.28. Thank you for your help.

BECOMING A CATHOLIC : If you are not already a member of the Catholic Church and would like to explore the possibility of becoming one, or if any of our congregation knows of anyone, a meeting with me, Canon Michael, will take place on Tuesday 29 July at 8.00pm in the Upper Room. Please telephone me on 624767.

GOSPEL CHALLENGE : 10 - 12 October 2003 - keep these dates free! Application forms will be available next week.

PARISH PROJECT: Some months ago Archbishop Thomas of Guwahati, Assam, India visited our parish. He told us a little about his Diocese and its struggle to build much needed hospitals for the benefit of thousands of rural tribal people. After discussion at the Parish Forum it was decided that we at St Wilfrid's would take on a committment to help with this worthy project. Could we take on fasting and praying on the first Friday of each month and bring the proceeds of our fasting/sacrifice to Mass on the following Sunday? A box will be left on the 'gifts' table at the back of Church and will be brought up with the gifts in the procession. We start on the first Friday in August.

SUMMER DRAW : Tickets are available today - please take a few books and sell them to family and friends. If you could also help by donating a prize, please put your name next to your donation on the list in the porch. Tickets 50p. First prize £200.

TALENTS PROJECT - to date £1,800 has been raised for the Church Refurbishment Fund. Many thanks to all involved.

SPONSORED WALK: Up to now the proceeds are £562. Well done everyone! If you have not yet brought your monies in please do so as soon as possible. The prize draw for those who took part in the walk takes place today.

ASCENT : Next meeting is Wed 30 July at 12.45p in the Upper Room. All welcome.

SINGING - Monday 7pm-8pm in the Upper Room. Over the next few weeks we have an opportunity to familiarise ourselves with some of the fine new liturgical composers around. Please come along and enjoy a sing-a-long.

REFRESHMENTS will be served on Saturday 26 July in the Upper Room and Church Yard (weather permitting) from 10am to help raise funds for the Church refurbishment. Cakes, scones, etc. would be most welcome - please can help?

MARTIN SANDERSON will be putting on sale his art works in the Bar Convent entrance hall on Saturday 26 July, 11am - 3.30pm. All are welcome. All proceeds will go to Martin as he takes up his studies with the Franciscan Brothers.

DIOCESAN ADULT FORMATION: You will find a questionnaire in this month's Catholic Voice. It would be helpful for planning if you would be kind enough to complete it and bring it back next week or send it direct to Curial Office.
