HOME MISSION SUNDAY: Today parishes, communities, families and individuals are asked to reflect, pray and share their faith with the many different people that they encounter every day.

WELCOMING PEOPLE INTO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH: Our meetings for those people inquiring about becoming Catholic start on Tuesday 22nd September, 7.30pm in the Upper Room. If you know of anyone who might be interested please bring them along.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION: We start our preparation for 2010 this month. The first of our nine themes is 'Celebrating'. Each theme is centred on a specific action in family living, in the life of Jesus, and in a particular part of the Mass.

RCIA 'BECOMING THE BODY OF CHRIST': Dr. Sheila O'Dea will be leading a day for all interested in evangelisation on Saturday 26 September, 10.30am - 3.30pm at All Saints Lower School, Nunnery Lane. Please bring a packed lunch. Suggested donation £5.

REFRESHMENTS will be served in the Upper Room next Saturday (26 September), 10.00am - 3.30pm. Any donations of cakes, etc. would be most welcome.

CROSSING THE THRESHOLD - a day for all involved in catechesis in the parish, Sat.24 Oct., 10.30am - 4pm. Please book in adultformation@dioceseofmiddlesbrough.co.uk or 01642 350505.

CAFOD: 'Make a Wave for Climate Justice' in York, Saturday 24 October, 10.30am - 11.30am. Gather at Dean's Yard behind the Minster to make a chain around the Minster. Volunteers needed as stewards and to help with teas. Contact our parish CAFOD representative, Jo England on 625316.

A RETIRING COLLECTION will be taken next weekend for the Retired Priests Welfare Fund.

CARECENT at Central Methodist Church, is looking for people to volunteer either as a regular commitment of one morning per week or fortnight to join one of their day teams or to join the relief rota. For further details please see notice on board in church porch or contact Jane Segaran 624244.

RELICS OF ST THERESE VISIT YORK MINSTER: The Relics arrive at the Minster at 6.00pm on Thursday 1 October (her feast day) and leave on Friday 2nd at 12 noon. This is a great opportunity of grace not to be missed - please make a special effort to come and pray. The Minster is open for the full 18 hours so that many people can come and venerate the Relics.

St Wilfrid's Church will be open throughout the visit and priests will be available there to hear Confessions and spend time with pilgrims as they wish.

No admission charges to the Minster will apply until after the Relics' departure, but contribution towards the cost of the visit will be welcome.

WHO IS ST THERESE? Join the Carmelite Spirituality Group on Saturday 26 September, 9.30am - 1.00pm and learn more about this Doctor of the Church at the Corpus Christi Carmelite Sisters, 110 Lawrence Street, York. See poster for further details.

A Book Stall selling material on St Therese will be available after the 6.15pm and 11am Masses today and next weekend, also on the next two Wednesdays before and after 12.10pm Mass.

ST WILFRID: This year marks the 13th centenary since the death of St Wilfrid. As he is the patron of our Church it is proposed to celebrate his feast day this year with special solemnity on Monday 12 October 2009 at 7pm and afterwards at the Guildhall. A finger buffet is to be served at the Guildhall and your help is needed to provide the food - please sign up in the porch today.

SINGING PRACTICE, Monday 21 September at 7.30pm in the Upper Room to practise our hymns and acclamations etc. for the St Wilfrid Centenary Mass.

WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS and thanks for joining in our Celebration. We hope you enjoy your time in York. Young children are most welcome to join in the Children's Liturgy at the 11am Mass. It helps the parish if tax-paying visitors would use the small white Gift Aid envelope (found at the back of Church) for any offerings you wish to make.
