ANNUAL MISSION APPEAL Today we welcome Fr Lawrence Tajah who will be making an appeal on behalf of St Patrick's Missionary Society (Kiltegan Fathers).

LAY MINISTERS OF COMMUNION - Renewal and Re-Commissioning Day, Saturday 2 October in the Central Hall at the University of York. The charge for each person is now £25. St Wilfiid's ministers are asked to contribute £10 towards the day. All intending to goplease take a form from the Sacristy and return it completed before 29August.

SCRIPTURE: Our Wednesday evening meetings will resume on 1 September at 8pm.

ASCENT: Wednesday 25 August 12.45pm - 3.00pm in the Upper Room.

HUNDRED CLUB: You will probably have noticed that the 100 Club prizes have dwindled over the past year or so because of falling membership. The September draw will be the final one - any members who stilt have money in the fund will be contacted by Nicholas Bailhache during September. Thanks to all who have supported the Draw over the years and special thanks to Nicholas for all his work in keeping it serviced.

AUCTION OF PROMISES - Friday 10 September at the Beechwood Close Hotel, Shipton Road. Come along and enjoy the fun. Viewing 6.3Opm-7.3Opm. Auction 8pm. Bar meals available - a great family evening. Please see enclosed programme.

DIOCESAN FAMILY LISTENING DAY - Saturday 11 September; Earlier this

year a letter from Bishop John was read out at all Masses regarding the initiative by the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales to mark the United Nations International Year of the Family. Leaflets and copies of the Bishop's letter were given out at the end of Masses on that day. The replies that have been received have been analysed and from that an agenda has been put together for our Diocesan Family Listening Day, which is to be held at All Saints School in York. The topics to be discussed are all parish based and are entitled - The Family Friendly Parish; Young People and Parish Life; The Church's teaching as experienced in Parish Life. The meeting is open to anyone who wishes to attend and give their views on the topics to be discussed. Please see poster for more details.

CHURCH FLOWERS: Would the two kind ladies who volunteered to help on the flower rota, please ring the rectory (624767) or see Canon Michael on his return.

QUIZ RESULTS: 1st Prize, 2 tickets to Castle Howard - David Betteridge; 2nd Prize, Personal CD Player - Sue Smith; 3rd Prize, £10 HMV Gift Voucher - Anne Coughlin. Well done! £155 was raised for the Parish Refurbishment Fund, Many thanks to Elaine and to all who tested their knowledge of York.

THE LOURDES FUNDRAISING DAY at St Crux raised £588 towards helping sick pilgrims go on our annual Diocesan Pilgrimage. Thanks to all who helped and supported in any way.

DIOCESAN WOMEN'S COMMISSION - Parishes without a Resident Priest 'Ways Forward'. Saturday 25 September, English Martyrs Hall, 10am-4pm. All welcome. (See poster for further details).

TRIP TO WHITBY organised by ASCENT on Tuesday 7 September. The coach leaves Memorial Gardens at 9.l5am and Our Ladys at 9.30am. It will be back in York 6-6.30pm. Cost £5. Payment by the end of August please. Coach is now full.
