FATHER VINCENT MAGUIRE writes to thank all who responded to his mission appeal last week - £617.60 was raised towards his project in Uganda.

MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST - Formation and Recommissioning Day, Sat 5 Oct at York University. The charge for each participant is £15. St Wilfrid's ministers are asked to contribute £7.50 towards the day - list in the porch for names. Please pick up your new rotas from the Sacristy.

DAY FOR MINISTERS OF THE WORD - Saturday 19 October at York University. The charge for each participant is £17.50. St Wilfrid's participants are asked to contribute £8.50 towards the day - list in porch for names.

THANKS to all who contributed to the running of the parish while I was on holiday. A special word to the young people who spent many hours tending the garden - what a wonderful surprise.

SUMMER DRAW today (Sunday) after 11am Mass in the Upper Room - still not too late to buy a few tickets.

HUNDRED CLUB : The September draw ends the first successful year. Remember to renew your subscriptions- yearly if possible (£60) during the month. The September draw takes place on the second Sunday - 8th.

BARN DANCE Friday 13 September at English Martyrs Hall. The evening will be led by Kath Greener and the Cornlanders. Entrance £3.50. Bring a plate for the shared table and a bottle of your choice. Come along and enjoy the fun - if you don't dance just enjoy the company. Proceeds St Wilfrid's Refurbishment.

ST SAMPSON'S FUNDRAISING DAY for St Wilfrid's Refurbishment Fund - meeting for helpers and all interested in helping in any way takes place on Tuesday next (27 August) at 7.30pm in the Upper Room. All welcome.

AMPLEFORTH ABBEY celebrates 200 years on Wednesday (25 August) with Mass at 7pm at the Cathedral, Middlesbrough. All welcome.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO ROME : A Mass in preparation for the pilgrimage takes place on Sun 1 Sep at 3pm at Our Lady's Church, Acomb.

DAY OF REFLECTION led by Rev. Nigel Bavidge, Tuesday 8 October, 10.30am - 3.30pm at St Aelred's new centre on Fifth Avenue. All welcome.

ASCENT OUTING TO NOSTELL PRIORY Wed 11 Sep. Departs Memorial Gardens 9.45am, Our Lady's 10am - back in York 5.30pm approx. Coach £4. Hse and Gdns £4.50, Grounds only £2. All welcome. List in porch for names.

LOURDES FUNDRAISING DAY at St Crux - Thurs 5 Sep., 10am-3.30pm. If you could help on the day, please put your name on the list in the porch. Cakes, bric-a-brac, etc. (not clothes) welcome. Proceeds go to help fund sick pilgrims.
