NEW BISHOP OF MIDDLESBROUGH: Mgr Terence Patrick Drainey, President of Ushaw College has been appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. He will receive Episcopal ordination on Friday 25 January 2008 at 12 noon in St Mary's Cathedral Middlesbrough. He met most of the priests on Monday last at the Cathedral. He asks for your prayer support in the coming months.

YOUTH SUNDAY: Today the young people of our parish are taking a lead role in the celebration of our Liturgy at the 11.00am Mass. They are providing the refreshments in the Upper Room after Mass - also there will be a raffle and cakes etc. All proceeds to finance Sydney 2008.

THE RETIRING COLLECTION taken today is for the Diocesan Youth Service.

WORLD YOUTH DAY - Sydney 2008: We are pleased to have two young people representing our parish next year, Olga and Megan. Our fundraising efforts over the next few months will go towards financing them. Our Diocesan group will travel with those of the H & Newcastle Diocese.

CONGRATULATIONS to Catriona Kemp and Daryl Martin who were married here this weekend.

MINISTERS OF COMMUNION: A meeting for all ministers will take place on Thursday 29 November at 7.30pm in the Upper Room.

ASCENT meets again on Wednesday next (28 November) at 12.45pm in the Upper Room. All in their middle and later years are very welcome.

LITURGY OF THE WORD WITH CHILDREN: A meeting for all involved or who would like to be, takes place on Thursday 6 December, 7.30pm in the Upper Room.

CHRISTMAS DRAW - If you could help by donating a prize please put your name on the list in the porch - tickets are available from the porch today.

PARISH FORUM: Our next meeting is on Sunday 2 December 3.30-5pm in the Upper Room. If you have any items for the agenda please hand them in before Friday 30 November.

RACE NIGHT: Thanks to all who helped organise, all who attended and all who supported in any way. This was our first joint event with St Joseph's. A total of £303 was raised to help fund our two representatives travelling to Sydney for World Youth Day.

CARECENT have written to thank all who so generously supported them at Harvest time. The pantry is now well stocked but they would be happy to receive socks, gloves and woolly hats and underwear as these are ongoing requirements. Volunteers are also needed to help prepare and serve breakfasts. Please see letter in porch for further details.

YOUTH PRAYER GROUP at English Martyrs on Monday 26 November at 8.00pm following evening Mass. This group is for the 18 - 30 age group.

THE POLISH COMMUNITY IN YORK warmly invite you to join them in their St Andrew's Day celebrations Andrzejki from 7.30pm until 11.00pm on Saturday 1 December in English Martyrs Church Hall, Dalton Terrace. Price £5 per person - proceeds to English Martyrs Building Fund. Food, Music, Dancing and Games! Please bring own drinks.

BISHOP JOHN CROWLEY will be returning to the Diocese for a farewell celebration on Friday 14 December, 7.00pm at the Cathedral, Middlesbrough. A coach will leave the Memorial Gardens at 4.15pm. Please put your name on the list in the porch. Cost £5.

ADVENT DAY OF RECONCILIATION: Priests will be available to hear Confessions from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday 22 December here at St Wilfrid's.

TAIZE PRAYER: Thurs 29 Nov 6.30-7.30pm at Heslington Church. All welcome.(Dress warmly!)
