HOMELESSNESS SUNDAY - Today we think of the plight of those who have nowhere to live. Being without a house is something that most of us can't even imagine, but for some it is all too real.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION 'Listening': Today at the 11am Mass we will be celebrating with the children who are preparing for First Communion. The music group will be leading our singing and I hope you are all able to participate - we will be introducing a few new songs and will be running through them before Mass.

BAPTISM PREPARATION If you have a child for Baptism please get in touch with Canon Michael - next course Saturdays 1, 8, 15 and 22 February.

MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST Next meeting Wednesday (29 January), 7.30pm in the Upper Room. The first part of the gathering is given to Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

EUCHARISTIC DEVOTION Each Thursday we have opportunity for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 9.00am to 11.30am. This is a very special time of prayer and because the Blessed Sacrament is exposed it is necessary that at least one person is present all the time. If you would like to commit yourself to half an hour or more please put your name on the list in the porch.

ASCENT (an International movement for Christians of 50 years plus). The next meeting of the City Centre Group is Wednesday (29 January), 12.45 - 3.00pm in the Upper Room. We start with a shared lunch (each brings sandwich etc) after the 12.10pm Mass. All very welcome.

HOUSE GROUP - Friday (31 January) at 1 St Barnabas Close, Leeman Road at 8pm. All welcome.

FUNDRAISING MEETING - Mon (27 Jan), 7.30pm in the Sacristy. All welcome.

PARISH FORUM The dates for 2003 are Sundays 9 February; 11 May; 7 September and 16 November all in the Upper Room, 3.30pm-5.00pm.

LOURDES 2003 The fiftieth Middlesbrough Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes by air from Teesside, Friday 23 - Friday 30 May. Cost from £505 (depending on choice of Hotel) - includes coach from York to Teesside and return. This is a very special week in the life of our diocese - maybe you are thinking of coming. Please see Canon Michael for further details and booking forms or ring the Rectory.

PRIESTS RETIREMENT FUND COLLECTION We have 33 retired priests at present and the fund which you so generously contributed to needs to be sustained. The Diocese has asked that we have an annual collection for the fund. The retiring collection next weekend will be for this purpose.

COLLECTIONS Gift Aid: £98.60; Loose Plate: £376.34; Refurbishment Fund: £102.19

WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS and thanks for joining in our Celebration. We hope you enjoy your time in York. Young children are most welcome to be part of the Children's Liturgy at the 11am Mass. Tea and coffee will be served in the Upper Room after the 11am Mass, to which you are specially invited. It helps the parish if tax-paying visitors could use the small white Gift Aid envelope (found at the back of church for any offerings they are likely to make. For every £1 you give, the government gives us back a further £0.28. Thank you for your help.
