CONFIRMATION PREPARATION: We next meet on Wednesday 5 June at 7pm in the Rectory (please note change of date) to prepare for Wednesday 19 June when the Sacrament will be celebrated at English Martyrs Church at 7pm. Please support our young people by your prayer and attendance on the night. This is a very special time for the parish.

LOURDES: A number of people from the parish are already in Lourdes with the 49th Diocesan Pilgrimage. Our community will be remembered in prayer at the Shrine of Our Lady. Please pray for all the sick who are on pilgrimage this week.

HOLYDAY OF OBLIGATION: Thursday is the Feast of Corpus Christi. Mass times here at St Wilfrid's are: 10am; 12.10pm and 7pm.

BISHOP AUGUSTINE HARRIS : We are all invited to celebrate with Bishop Harris on the occasion of his Diamond Jubilee of Priesthood. Concelebrated Mass takes place at 7pm in the Cathedral Middlesbrough on Thursday 6 June. Refreshments will be available in the marquee after Mass. A coach will leave the Memorial Gardens at 4.30pm. Cost £5. If you would like to book a seat on the coach please put your name on the list in church porch or telephone 624767.

FUNDRAISING EVENT : All are welcome to the Groves Club in Penleys Grove Street on Friday 31 May. Artist, Irish Dancing Troupe, tombola, raffle - a good social evening for all. Any prizes for tombola etc. would be gratefully received - please leave in Sacristy or Rectory. Please help make this event a success by your presence.

CONGRATULATIONS to Samantha Dodd and John Shepherd who were married here at St Wilfrid's this weekend.

SINCERE THANKS to Ken Gair who has put in a lot of time helping young people play musical instruments with a view to playing in our Sunday Liturgy. He also led our singing practices during Lent which bore fruit in the wonderful celebrations at Eastertime. Ken and Anne will shortly be leaving York to take up residence in Guisborough and wish them health and happiness.

THE ANNUAL MASS in honour of St Columba organised by the Knights of St Columba takes place on Monday 10 June at 7.30pm in the Crypt of York Minster. All welcome.

'COME AND SEE' - an afternoon of prayer and reflection with Bishop John at St Bede's Pastoral Centre on Saturday 15 June, 2-5pm. All welcome.

YORK COUNCIL OF CHURCHES AGM : Tuesday 18 June 7.30pm at Friends Meeting House. All welcome.

BEING A CATHOLIC TODAY : Four reflections on 18, 25 Jun & 2, 9 July at St Margaret Clitherow Church, Haxby. 7.30pm. All welcome. See noticeboard.
