CONFIRMATION 2008: The priests of the Pastoral Area have decided that, for the parishes of York the Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on Thursday 15 May at Our Lady's Church in Acomb. The young candidates will continue to meet in their own parishes - our next gathering is on Thursday 13 September at 7.30pm in the Upper Room.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD: The Wednesday meetings are discontinued during July and August. We will reassemble in September starting with a gathering for all Readers on Wednesday 5th from 7pm - 9pm in the Upper Room when Jane Cook, Diocesan Adult Formation Advisor, will lead the evening.

THE MUSIC GROUP will be playing at the 11.00am Mass next Sunday. Please note that the practice will take place at 10.15am on that day rather than Monday 27 August, as it is a Bank holiday.

ASCENT meeting Wednesday 29 August, 12.45 - 3.00pm in the Upper Room.

THE SINGING PRACTICES resume on Monday 3 September, 7.30pm - 8.30pm.

OUTING TO BRIDLINGTON - Organised by Ascent but open to everyone: Tues 11 Sep. The coach will leave Memorial Gardens at 9.15am, and Our Lady's at 9.30am, stopping at Beverley, and getting back to York around 6.30pm. The fare is £6.50. If you would like a seat on the coach please contact Margaret Snowdon on telephone 790169.

WORLD YOUTH DAY - SYDNEY 2008: We are grateful to have two members of our parish, Megan and Olga, travelling to Sydney next July with the Diocese. We will be organising events with them in the autumn to raise funds for their travel.

YORK JUSTICE AND PEACE GROUP : The next meeting takes place on Monday 10 September at 7.30pm at St Bede's Pastoral Centre, 21 Blossom Street. James Main, a student, will talk on his year's experience working in Japan. All welcome.

YORK WALSINGHAM ASSOCIATION - next meeting takes place on Wednesday 5 September at St George's. Mass 12.30pm followed by the meeting.
