CAFOD 'Live Simply' ADVENT SERVICE Sunday 10 December, 3.00pm here at St Wilfrid's, to celebrate the 40 anniversary of Pope Paul VI's Encyclical Populorum Progressio. Peace means far more than a precarious truce. Peace is the fruit of anxious daily care to see that everyone lives in justice as God intends. Make sure you get Christmas off to the right start. Join us for our Advent Service. All are welcome.

ADVENT DAY OF RECONCILIATION 10am-5pm on Saturday 16 December at St Wilfrid's. Priests from around York will be available to hear confessions all day - please see the list in the porch.

ALL SAINTS SCHOOL invites us to their Carol Service in York Minster on Monday 4 December at 7.30pm. They will be celebrating Advent and preparing for Christmas with readings, prayers, reflections and music and would be delighted if parishioners would join them on the night for a community celebration.

Mince pies will be served at the service in the North transept of the Minster.

WHITE FATHERS MISSION APPEAL Today we welcome Father Tom Cummins of the White Fathers who will be telling us of their work in the Missions and taking a retiring collection.

BISHOP JOHN celebrates 20 years as a Bishop on Friday 8 December. He invites all to join him for a Mass at the Cathedral at 7pm and refreshments afterwards.

CHRISTMAS DRAW tickets are available today. Please take a few books and sell them to your friends and relations. Many thanks to those who have generously donated prizes already - please see list in the porch.

SINGING The parish needs a group of people to help support the congregation in our Sunday Liturgies. A gathering for all interested will take place on Monday, 7.30pm - 8.30pm in the Upper Room. Please come along and praise God.

ST WILFRID'S SCHOOL. CHRISTMAS FAYRE Sunday 10 Dec. 2-4.30pm in the school hall. Stall, Tombola, Santa's Grotto mulled wine and mince pies. All welcome.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES 25 May - 1 June 07. Booking forms for the flight from Durham Tees Valley will be available shortly. If you know of any sick person who would like to make the pilgrimage please inform Canon Michael.

WALSINGHAM - Prayers and reflections. An excellent help to prayer - a new book by one of our parishioners, John Rayne-Davis available from the stall at £8.95 per copy.

HUGH BAYLEY MP will be holding an open house surgery in the Guildhall on Saturday 2 December from 11am-2pm in the Cafat the Labour Party Christmas Fair. Any voluntary or community body representing people in his constituency who would like to raise an issue or concern is welcome to attend.

CARECENT If you wish to continue to help, Carecent is happy to receive socks gloves, woolly hats and underwear, also towels and small bars of soap and other toiletry items. One of the most important and ongoing needs is that of volunteers. Further details on noticeboard or tel. 795265.
