EDUCATION SUNDAY 'Moving on .. from darkness to light'. Today we acknowledge Jesus the teacher as the inspiration at every stage of our life. We pray for all who are involved in education today.
HOMELESSNESS SUNDAY - 27 January. Many thousands of people in Britain experience homelessness every year. On the local scene there are many without homes. Arc Light, Carecent, Peasholme Centre, Chas etc. all help in differing ways and would always welcome more volunteers.
CONFIRMATION PREPARATION - we next meet on Wednesday 20 Feb. Date of Confirmation - Wednesday 19 June, 7pm at English Martyrs Church.
MINISTERS OF THE WORD : A meeting of those Ministers of the Word who are on duty 2/3 February takes place on Wednesday next (30 Jan) at 8pm in the Rectory. If any other Reader or anyone else who would like to come to these meetings they would be most welcome.

CAFOD Collection for the people of Goma taken last week amounted to £779.50 (including one £500 donation).
ALTAR SERVERS: If you have received your First Communion and would like to be an Altar Server please have a word with Canon Michael.
MINISTRY OF WELCOME: Would you like to welcome people to our Sunday Mass? More volunteers are needed for the 11.00am Mass. Please have a word with Canon Michael.
HOSPITAL PATIENTS AND THE DATA PROTECTION ACT - it is important that if you are admitted to hospital that you make sure that the hospital staff record your religion and note your explicit requirements that the Chaplaincy Team and the Catholic Chaplain be informed. Those responsible for children or for those who are unconscious when admitted to hospital should do likewise.
