GOSPEL CHALLENGE Twenty-five people gave up last weekend to spend it in the Upper Room looking at the Gospel and how we are living it as a community. Thanks to all who prayed for us during this time - it was a wonderful experience.

ASCENT is an international movement for Christian people of 50 years plus. The first meeting of a second York group takes place on Wednesday 30 October at 12.45pm in St Wilfrid's Upper Room. Come along and find out a little more - you'll be most welcome.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK On Sunday 3 November during our 11am Mass the sick people of our parish will be anointed. This gives us all an opportunity to celebrate this healing sacrament with them.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION 'Celebrating'. We started our preparation with the Parents Meeting last week; the children gather Saturday 9 Nov l0am- 11am in the Upper Room. Parish celebration on Sun 17 Nov at 11am.

RCIA - Journey in Faith meetings for people who are considering becoming Catholics take place on Tuesdays at 7.30pm in the Upper Room. All welcome.

BAPTISM PREPARATION If you have a baby for Baptism please get in touch with Canon Michael.

DIOCESAN CATECHISTS COURSE 2003/4 - a part-time course, over four terms, designed to help lay people deepen their understanding of what it is to be a faithful and responsible member of the Church, and develop their gifts and the confidence to use them in partnership with priests and people. More information and application forms from the Rectory. See noticeboard.

NOVEMBER HOLY SOULS envelopes are available at the back of Church. Mass will be celebrated every day during November for those on the list. Please place the names of the deceased and your offering in the envelope.

THE HUNDRED CLUB is now in its second year and there are six spare numbers - 38, 55, 81, 90 and 99. Stake £5 per month (for the year). Application forms are available in the porch.

MINISTERS OF TILE EUCHARIST Please collect new rota from Sacristy.

FUNDRAISING DAY FOR LIFE at St Sampson's, Monday 18 November. Help needed please. LIFE AGM and party to celebrate end of lease and work in the Care Centre, Friday 29 November at 7.30pm.

YORK COUNCIL OF CHURCHES - Winter meeting, Tuesday 12 November, 7.30pm in the Father Kelly Room at Our Lady's, Acomb.

ARC LIGHT desperately needs cleaners. If you have a compassion for the needy and would like to do several hours paid cleaning a week, please call Gerard Hobson, tel. no. 630500 between 9am and 1pm weekdays.
