WE WELCOME INTO THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY Maisie Adams who is to be baptised this weekend and we congratulate her family and friends.

CONGRATULATIONS to Jennifer Merchant and Daniel Agustus who were married here on Saturday.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION: We start our preparation for 2009 next month. The first of our nine themes is 'Celebrating'. Each theme is centred on a specific action in family living, in the life of Jesus, and in a particular part of the Mass. The action of 'Celebrating' is related in the story of the Wedding Feast at Cana. When we gather as the family of God, we celebrate and praise God.

Parish Celebration : Sunday 14 September 11.00am

WELCOMING PEOPLE INTO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH: A meeting for all Catholics who would like to be involved in supporting the people who are thinking about joining the Church will be held on Tuesday 9 September at 7.30pm in the Upper Room.

THE SINGING PRACTICES resume on Monday next (1 September), 7.30 - 8.30pm.

CATECHESIS - VISION AND REALITY, Saturday 11 October at English Martyrs Hall, Dalton Terrace, commencing at 10.30am (with coffee served from 10.00am) and concluding by 4.00pm. This day is for all who are involved in preparing children, young people, parents or adult enquirers for the Sacraments of Initiation, or leading Children's Liturgy of the Word. The cost for the day is £5. Please sign the list in the porch if you would like to attend.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD: We will reassemble with a gathering for all Readers on Wednesday 10 September from 7.00pm - 9.00pm in the Upper Room.

PARISH FORUM: Sunday 7 September, 3.30pm - 5.00pm in the Upper Room. If you have any items for the agenda please hand them in before Sunday 7 September.

BIBLE ALIVE: The September issue is available from the porch at £1.95 and also Day by Day

TRIP TO WHITBY (organised by Ascent) on Tuesday 9 September. The coach will leave Memorial Gardens at 9.15am and Our Lady's Church at 9.30am and the fare will be £8. There will be a stop at Thornton Le Dale for coffee. It is expected we will be back in York between 6.00pm and 6.30pm. Please put your name on the list in the porch if you would like to go.

APF RED MISSION BOXES: Pat and Ernie Johnston will be collecting the contents of our boxes on the weekend of 13/14 September.

THE RETIRING COLLECTION is for the ongoing maintenance of our parish buildings - many thanks for your continued generosity.

THE LADY CHAPEL, MOUNT GRACE: Mass on Our Lady's birthday, Monday 8 September, 2.00pm. All welcome.

THE VICTIMS OF THE VICTIMS: Dr Monica Wusterman and Mary Watson will be giving a talk on the crisis in Gaza and the occupied territories on Wednesday 10 September in St Joseph's Hall, Clifton at 7.30pm. Admission free.

THE KAREN HILLTRIBES TRUST: Please sponsor Sophie Lusty who is doing the Leeds Half Marathon in aid of the Karen Hilltribes Trust (KHT). The event takes place on 7 September and all money raised is for KHT, a York based charity that Sophie will be working with next year teaching children in Thailand. For further details please see display board and sponsor forms in the porch.
