THE YEAR OF THE EUCHARIST October 2004-5. In the 25th year of his Pontificate, Pope John Paul II desired to involve the whole Church more fully in a Eucharistic Reflection. The Eucharist builds, sustains and fortifies the Church, increasing spiritual communion and charity among her members. Today we listen to a letter from Bishop John introducing this theme. Please also pick up a leaflet from the porch.

NOVEMBER - HOLY SOULS This is the time of year when we remember in a special way our deceased family members and friends. If you would like to have your loved ones remembered in our Masses here during November please take an envelope from the porch and return it to the Rectory or Sacristy as soon as possible. Throughout the month of November Mass will be offered daily for our dead.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION The theme Forgiving, central to our lives as Christians, is celebrated this month.

CONFIRMATION PREPARATION Our group meets again on Thursday 11 November, 7000pm - 8.30pm in the Upper Room.

CONGRATULATIONS to George Atang and Samantha Griffin who were baptised into our community recently and to their parents and families.

HOLY HOUR The fifth of our monthly Holy Hours takes place on Thursday next, 11.00am - 12noon for Vocations and growth of the Church.

ANNUAL MASS FOR THE DEAD York Cemetery Chapel, Saturday 6 November at 12noon.

YORK ST JOHN COLLEGE Mass will be celebrated in the College Chapel by Father Damian Cassidy, the new RC Chaplain at the University of York, on Thursday 4 November at 12.30pm. All are most welcome.

PRIESTS TRAINING FUND - annual retiring collection will be taken next weekend.

PARISH FORUM - Sunday 7 November, 3.30pm in the Upper Room. If you have items for the Agenda please have them in by Sunday 31 October.

ST WILFRIDS CHURCH - Fundraising Day at St Crux, Thursday 11 November. Bric-a brac etc. and help and support on the day will be most welcome.

CHRISTMAS DRAW - tickets will be available soon. We are appealing for prizes Christmas Cake, Hamper, bottles of wine/spirits, chocolates, toys and of course any help towards the first prize would be appreciated. Please see list in the porch.

PARISH INDIA PROJECT Our monthly fast day is Friday next (5 November). The box for the proceeds of our fasting will be on the 'gifts' table next Sunday.

ST WILFRID'S RC SCHOOL Open Afternoon - Thursday 4 November from 1.30pm - 3.00pm. lf you are interested in enrolling your child in this successful and caring school, come along to our open afternoon to see for yourself how we are able to combine gospel values with a broad and balanced curriculum.
