The Lateran Basilica

Constantine_York_Minster

This feast of the Lateran Basilica is ideal for the York Oratory to celebrate its birthday, since the Lateran was originally the Emperor's palace. After Constantine was acclaimed emperor in York, he legalised Christianity throughout the Roman Empire, and later gave the Lateran palace to Pope Sylvester as the Mother Church of the City and of the World.
