Pilgrims to St Margaret Clitherow
Over the summer we have welcomed several hundred pilgrims to the Shrine of St Margaret Clitherow as individuals or in smaller or larger groups: parishes and schools from as far away as London; teachers from the Diocese of Westminster; groups from abroad stopping over in York; even a Scottish bishop. Larger groups have Mass in St Wilfrid's before going to St Margaret's house in the Shambles. Some like to include a guided tour of York's long Christian history.
Today we welcomed a group from the United States with their priest Fr Michael Stinson FSSP. They were accompanied by an English student for the priesthood with the Priestly Fraternity of St Peter, James Mawdsley. Some readers will remember James's courageous stand for democracy in Burma.
