WE WELCOME Ruairi William Roche-Grant who is to be baptised during our 11.00am Mass today. Congratulations to all his family.

FIRST COMMUNION: 'Serving'. All of us are called to be servants bringing the Gospel to our world through our many gifts. Today, during our 11.00am Mass Thalia, Olivia, Keira, Lewis, Isobel, Isabel, Angela, Maeve, Isobel, Devnara, Thisen, Jessika, Jacob, Angus, Evie, Lily, Sasha and Samuel will be presented with their certificates. Please continue to pray for them and their families.

MANY THANKS to Elaine Langan, Rachel James and their daughters, and Maureen Potter who have helped to prepare the children for their First Holy Communion. A Jot of time and energy is given very generously in this ministry. A special thank you to Elaine who is finishing as Catechist after many years working in the team - a job very well done!

MISSION APPEAL: Next weekend we welcome Fr Jack who will be speaking to us about the work of the White Fathers. I know you will make him very welcome.

RCIA - BACK TO BASICS - Saturday 22 June at St Aelred's Hall, 10.00am - 1.00pm. A chance to explore the way we welcome people into the Church. Please put your name on the list in the porch if you wish to attend - there is no charge but numbers are needed for catering etc.

CONFIRMATION will be celebrated at English Martyrs on Tuesday 18 June at 7.00pm by Bishop Terry. A number of young people from three parishes will be Confirmed.

INTERNATIONAL MASS: This annual event will take place on Sunday 7 July at the 11.00am Mass here at St Wilfrid's. Thanks to those who came to the first preparation meeting. The next meeting is on Wednesday 19 June, 7.30pm in the Upper Room. Please come along and help with the organisation of this special day in the life of the parish.

YEAR OF FAITH: As part of our parish programme for the Year of Faith, you are invited to three sessions on Tuesday evenings in the Upper Room. They start on 25 June and continue on 2 and 9 July, 7.30pm - 8.45pm. These sessions are centred on the saints who have made a great contribution to the spirituality and mission of the Church. All very welcome.

THANKS to those who kindly donated towards the cost of regilding our chalices. The cost was £510. We are very grateful to the Dean and Staff of York Minster who loaned us four of their chalices for several weeks.

KNIGHTS OF ST COLUMBA: The annual Mass for the feast of St Columba takes place on Monday 17 June, 7.30pm in St John's Chapel, York Minister. All very welcome.

POSTGATE RALLY, Sunday 7 July. A coach will depart English Martyrs Church at 12.45pm for Mass at Egton Bridge at 3.00pm. Then on to Whitby for fish and chips. Back in York 8.15pm. Adults £10; children free. Ring Father John Bane on 01904 623783 to book a seat.

CARECENT: Nicky Gladstone, Project Leader, has written thanking all who contributed so generously during May.

SENIORS OUTING, Thursday 18 July. The coach will leave St Paulinus Church at 11.45am for 2 hours at Peasholme Park Scarborough, then on for tea at Tickton Grange. £13 includes coach, tea and raffle. Phone Norah on 01904 623907 to book a place.

CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF ROBERT ASKE, Friday 28 June, 7.30pm at Aughton Anglican church, Near Selby. This great catholic martyr was executed at Cliffords Tower in 1537. For further information please ring John Rayne-Davis on 01904 706867.
